New eLibrary on Marco Island Blog

In preparation for the continued prosecution of the lawsuit filed against this online newspaper, all of the pictures and videos and documents that have served to document many events in the last six years, most notable of which is the sordid history of what the syndicate has done to Marco Island is now in one convenient place.

The Marco Island Blog now has a one-click button (Blog eLibrary – Documents, Pictures & Videos) that will display a link to hundreds of pictures, hours of video and myriad documents.

The documents released by the EPA as a results of this online newspaper's successful Freedom of Information Act lawsuit are in the eLbirary. As well as videos of the syndicate's pumping millions of gallons of toxic effluent into the Gulf of Mexico. As well as the pictures of the asbestos crushing and pulverizing. As well as myriad news reports covered by non-local media. And much much more.

And of course there is the comic relief. The "Hitler Plans the Marco Island Sewer Project" video, the video of the now defunct local hate group, the "there be fecal" statement by a city councilor, and other humorous if not tragic chronicles of what happens when there is a kakistocracy.

So enjoy.

  • The time is coming, there are hints that a team is coalescing, under the mantra of "misinformation". The players I see, Mr. Magel and Mr. Arceri are raising their glasses in a toast to the rid this island of those with a different vision. Your library may be a resource to remind the folks of past "visionaries". It is only my opinion, but when I read LTE's by Mr. Magel and Mr. Arceri with the theme being misinformation, I get a bit concerned.

I guess my perspective is now been replaced with the term misinformed.

We may need more historical perspective to rid this city of "visionaries" running on a platform of ridding this town of misinformation.

    The traps have been baited!

  • yes - the syndicate is already telling the people on marco what they are going to do. like all tyrants they tell us in advance their plots. like 1930's europe, and now like iran, the warnings are continual. while a majority of the world ignores these promises, marco is unique that everyone except a handful of people ignore these promises. so expect another several years of the syndicate doing whatever they please and for those of you that stay good luck

Exposing How another Syndicate Exploits Good

Letter given to the Pope by Amel Olivares, delegate of the CID in Italy, Alessandro Bertoldi leader of the youth of the PDL (people of freedom) party President National The voice of the students of Italy VIS and Huber Matos, Secretary General of the movement Cuba Independent and Democratic (CID)

His Excellency Benedict XVI

Vatican City

Miami, Milano, Bolzano, 22 March 2012

Your next trip to Cuba it is important for the Catholic Church, for the people and for the tyranny, that intends to manipulate its presence. For these reasons we cannot ignore the high political content of his visit. The Catholic hierarchy in Cuba has declared he wants this to be disturbed by any of the parties. With this argument they have expelled opponents of several churches. The end of ask the action of the police was reached in Havana. This is an act of legitimization of the same repressive force which for years has harassed, arrested and killed Cuban Democrats. It is a very serious precedent that reporters without borders and the democratic opposition have condemned.

His imminent arrival has raised in many hopes that you help unlock the desperate situation in which they live, or at least contain the illusion that the Church supports them morally. This is entirely reasonable, the most beautiful pages of the Church were those in which has defended and protected the persecuted by tyrannies.

The regime plans to manipulate your visit. The prestigious director of coexistence, Dagoberto Valdez, magazine has reported that the: "Cuban Government prepares the visit of the Pope to suppress access to white ladies churches and dissidents". The dictatorship is preparing groups of fans they are armed and ready to attack those who during her visit want to claim rights or ask for his help. Castro Ambassador at the Vatican has dared to say publicly that: "we do not put conditions to his Holiness, but logically for the Cuban people and to the Government it would be painful for a group do not represent anything, are mercenaries, acting against the Cuban nation, were received by his Holiness".

The Castro regime is on track to an end. His promises of change have no credibility or possibilities. They were giving to the church because they know lost, but no move will save the tyranny. Cubans are not going to compromise by economic improvements. Cubans are a rebellious people which was forged in a long war of independence. In this fight against communist totalitarianism the Church has heroes how father Loredo and many martyrs, young Cubans who were executed shouting Viva Cristo Rey! There are priests on the island the people he admires as his defenders. If the opposition, which represents the aspirations of the people, is ignored as "mercenaries" the dictatorship will have won a Pyrrhic victory and the Church will have suffered a defeat that we will all have to mourn.

With the faith that God to throw what light they are from you:

Huber Matos

Amel Olivares

Alessandro Bertoldi

Larry Sacher for Marco Island City Council

Larry Sacher for

Marco Island City Council

My Goals if you elect me to Marco City Council

Some of my Goals if you elect me to serve you on Marco City Council

I promise I won't overwhelm you with Newsletters and e-mails, however Judy and I are taking a long-planned trip this coming weekend, and when I return, I've got a lengthy surgery and recovery period for my back, therefore I wanted to get out something that would help you understand my position on some of the issues the Island faces (there's more, and I look forward to your comments and suggestions).  I'm grateful for all the positive feedback and contributions I've received so far, and welcome an ongoing dialogue.  Some of my goals:

Accountability of City of Marco Island Management/Boards/Committees/Council

  • Establish a Charter Review Committee (consisting of all new members) to review, among some of the issues:

(1)  Dollar spending limits for the City Manager and other management

(2)  Dollar amount of City Council-approved projects that would require a referendum or special election.

  • Elect members to the Planning Board Commission instead of appointment by City Council Members (political patronage).
  • Establish term limits for all citizen's committees and boards, including the Planning Board.
  • For Council, require that all communication to Council be at least 24 hours in advance of a meeting.

Development and Direction of Marco Island Determined by Seeking and Acting on input from Citizens, MICA, MITA, Homeowners, Condos, Business Owners and Other Groups

  • Personally, I do not support the notion that Marco Island is referred to by some as "Myrtle Beach South". Some of the businesses on the Island do not pay their fare share for services (including water/wastewater) and too many locally-owned and operated businesses cannot compete with the retail chains that come to our Island.
  • Seek input on how the current Citizens want to see Marco develop, especially in light of recent "tourist friendly" steps (2 mini-golf courses, horse drawn carriages, etc.)
  • In "comprehensive planning" seek and consider community input including surveys.

Sound Accounting Principals Applied to All City Financial Activities

  • Improved financial practices including a more rigorous budgeting process with more involvement from both Council and the Community
  • Focus Capital spending on necessary expenditures rather than on non-essential or 'nice to have' projects
  • Require open, easily available documentation to show that the City of Marco is honoring the spending cap and working on a true "zero based (balanced) budget," especially in relation to the interaction of the accounts for the City General Fund and Marco Utilities.
  • Current City practice, except where required by law (Fire and Police Departments), the City pays an extra 25-30% to each employee in lieu of benefits; further, should an employee choose to not use sick-pay or vacation-pay they not only 'double-dip' on their pay, but also get this additional money. I would require a full accounting of the potential liabilities of employee payments to purchase benefits, and the effects of employees not taking vacation or sick days on those payments.
  • Eliminate current practice of "pooled accounting" and establish specific funds for allocating costs so they are easily traceable.
  • Require full disclosure of sources and use of funds for projects.
  • Require public disclosure of all Consulting arrangements, including costs and scope of work

Clarification Regarding my comments about the City of Marco Island Police Department

In my recent Commentary I cited several items specific to the Marco Island Police Department. I did not intend to demean the MIPD, rather, my point was to emphasize, as with the other issues I identified, how out of control our City is and to highlight the fact that the 'Board' (i.e. City Council) is not 'managing the managers'.  The Taxpayers of Marco Island are paying for this lack of control and it must be addressed.

Tuesday, November 6, you CAN MAKE IT BETTER...ELECT LARRY SACHER TO MARCO ISLAND CITY COUNCIL!

Sincerely,

Larry Sacher

Marco Island Water War Continues

As predicted, and made to happen by the syndicate, the City of Marco Island has now proposed to change the water rate structure from an unfair, biased and discriminatory scale to an … unfair, biased and discriminatory scale.

Aren't you glad that the councilors and the myriad committees and pseudo intellectuals have been working on this plan for years and years?

As predicted during the campaign in the last non-election, the water rates would be used to continue to divide the residents of the island.

Using the latest "proposal" put forth by the City and its handlers, we performed an 8th grade analysis and derived the following two charts – again, using their numbers:

In this chart we compare the existing inequitable rates to the proposed inequitable rates based on the percent change in the new rates. Note that the Single Family Residence (SFR) rate at all consumption levels not only continues to be higher than the Condo rate at all consumption levels, but the Condo rates for the first two level DROPS compared to the SFR rates.

In this second chart we contrast the actual price per gallon per consumption between SFR and Condos. Same difference – the single family residences continue to pay more.

What is most interesting – though not surprising given the syndicate's disdain for the environment of Marco Island – is that the more water you use, the less you pay per gallon.

Shouldn't that be the other way around? Shouldn't we encourage conservation by charging more per gallon the more water is used?

Anywhere else that would be the case. By the same cabal that thwarted and intentionally undermined the effort to install cisterns (despite state and federal grants making cistern installations FREE), and that told us that we all would have reclaimed water as part of the STRP (that of course was not true), we should not be surprised that they continue to encourage the use of our most precious local resource.

Hey, but how else can they pay for the decrepit water treatment plant they bought and the ever-escalating $400,000,000 debt?

Invariably the next iteration of the water wars will include a provision that the condos don't pay for water and their water is subsidized by the single family residences, and the hotels and the "restaurants" will get a tax break equivalent to their water bill.

Just you wait.
