On Gun Control ...

Timothy McVeigh forever proved that it is not necessary to use guns or assault weapons to kill a large number of people if you are really intent upon doing so. As a matter of fact, he far outdid any shooter in that department and his poor victims were very diverse.
Politicians are not concerned for your lives or the lives of the children at Sandy Hook or Columbine. They fear for their own lives. They fear that the public could rise up and steal the power that they have been wielding recklessly for so long: the power to confiscate the wealth of the citizens and not just the rich.
An armed citizenship prevents the government from exercising the absolute power that it relentlessly seeks. This is why our founders gave us the second amendment. It had nothing to do with hunting or sport.
Misguided anti-gun activists need to educate themselves in regard to The Battle of Athens (sometimes called the McMinn County War): a rebellion led by citizens in Athens and Etowah, Tennessee, United States, against the local government in August 1946. The citizens, including some World War II veterans, accused the local officials of political corruption and voter intimidation. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Athens_(1946).

editor's note: The very first official decree on January 1, 1959 was to confiscate all guns in the hands of the citizenry. When asked why, the leader of the new government said [¿armas, para que?] "Guns, for what?". That was Fidel Castro.
